Introduction to Blacksmithing – September 26 & 27, 2026

$345.00

About the course:

For over 3,000 years blacksmiths have been important to human culture. They were so essential to ancient peoples that blacksmith gods appear in Greek, Roman, and other mythologies. For many centuries, blacksmiths made the tools we farmed with, the   implements we cooked with, the nails we built with, and the weapons to hunt with. Until the 19th century most towns had blacksmiths. Only the apprentice was lucky enough to learn the skills and knowledge to shape hot iron into objects. In this two-day workshop students will learn the fundamentals of blacksmithing, and how to safely and effectively use tools of the trade such as, hammers, anvil, and tongs to create items such as simple hooks, bottle openers, and fire poker.
