Apple Pruning Do’s and Don’ts – February 28, 2026

$0.00

About the course:

Did you know that apple trees aren’t grown from seed, but from clippings?  Are you thinking about planting trees, or have you planted trees, hoping to get baskets of crisp apples but instead have been met with disappointment?  You have trees making more shade than fruit. Careful pruning ensures a bountiful harvest. In this three-hour workshop Sandisfield Orchard Manager Joe Pappas will show you how much to prune, where to make the cuts, and when it should be done! He’ll cover traditional pruning methods for free standing, central leader style trees, including semi-dwarfing and standard rootstocks. Tools used, pruning theories, and basic pruning concepts will be discussed. Join fellow orchardists and backyard growers and learn how to bring your struggling trees back to life.
